I am ashamed and I have a list to remind me of that shame. It goes something like this…
‘Annals’ 40,654 first draft – not complete
‘Grimly’ 34,276 first draft – not complete
‘Persephone’ 13,291 first draft – not complete
‘Haunting’ 21,142 first draft – not complete
‘Young’ 1,757 first draft (ideas) – not complete
‘Adrift’ 52,891 first draft – not complete
‘Book’ 604 first draft – not complete
‘Gaia’ 1474 first draft – not complete
These are my current unfinished writing projects. They sit there looking at me, mocking. Some are more along the road to completion than others. Some are little more than outlines with paragraphs here and there. But they have all been started and I intend to finish them.
I am publicly shaming myself in the hope that it will motivate me to move a little quicker. I am currently writing at least 1,000 words a day. I’ll keep you informed, and more importantly I will be getting these finished.
Top of the list is finishing ‘Grimly’ above. It’s a collection of short stories that are linked together by a common theme and character. A couple of the short stories are finished and you can read one of them already. Follow the link and you’ll find it on the webpage or in a variety of formats to download. It’s called A Nerd walks into a bar. While you’re reading that I’m going to write a few more words, I don’t like this feeling of shame.
