It’s a strange new moon ritual this one. It coincides with the major solar eclipse in the US. Not sure if that makes any difference to things, but you never know. Also, the full moon, in this cycle, comes along at a point in time when I have several things happening. I have family visiting, I am visiting and between both, I reach a fairly major life milestone.
I made my new moon intentions within a double cosmic shadow. The sun was eclipsed and the moon was dark. A solar system in shadow. My universe full of potential as the light comes forth.
My plans aren’t secret but I don’t want to bore you with all the things I intend to get up to. However, I thought it might be of interest to share a brief outline of the process.
It all begins with the New Moon. I sit down with my journal and write and plan and dream and ponder what I could do. The process is essentially a four step one, with a focus approximately every seven days. I plan and act. I review and act. I deliver and act. I review and act. That takes me to the next moon cycle.
I have been using this on and off for the past few months and it seems to help me. It’s not perfect. It’s great for the big picture but for everyday steps, it’s not so good. It is, like myself and my creative process, a work in progress. Details get put into my bullet journal and that is where the nitty-gritty gets worked through. It will develop over the next few cycles and I will let you know if there are any major changes. But at the moment this is how I am approaching things.
Here’s a breakdown of the questions that are the headlines on each step.
All in shadow, not yet revealed
New Moon Intentions
- Day One – What do I intend to do?
- Day Seven – What adjustments are needed to reach my objectives?
- Day Fourteen/Full moon. All my pieces should be in place. What do I need to deliver on them?
- Day Twenty-one – What adjustments are needed as I deliver?
That’s it. An intention, two major reviews, with a delivery at the full moon. Now, it’s time to get working on what I intend to do. The new moon ritual is complete and the moon’s cycle is running.
