Quick monthly review

A very brief update. I’m already a week late, although the reason for that was a really great trip to Northern Ireland to promote the new book series to some schools.

  1. Spend 10 minutes meditating on my mission statement – I am back on track here and extending it a little to seek direction
  2. Record 10 pieces of music for distribution – I’ve been playing with a few online resources to begin to arrange the songs I have in preparation for recording
  3. Lose 10lbs in Lose Weight Exercise – Still no comment
  4. Write 10 posts – this is moving and I will be relaunching !maginality very soon
  5. Create 10 imagesbeen busy this last month and it is the art that has suffered. However, I have managed to create a couple of digital images
  6. Identify 10 people for an influential network – ongoing and slowly being built
  7. Have 10 minutes Lose Weight Exercise per day – well I did manage it for at least one day
  8. Increase web traffic by 10% – need to post more, but traffice is increasing
  9. Scan RSS reader for 10 minutes per day – still going strong. To see how I do it, you can read my guide to taming your RSS reader here
  10. Practice twitter in 10 minutes -  this is now second nature… almost

So all going well. If I can begin the Lose Weight Exercise, I may be able to rid the board of any red. If!

Post summer goal review

It’s time for my monthly review of where I am with things. However, I’m not overly concerned with the amount of red below, as I took a bit of a break. Still as a way of being accountable I’ll list and make the odd comment about where I am.

  1. Spend 10 minutes meditating on my mission statement – I have slipped a little with the regularity of this, so back down to amber this month
  2. Record 10 pieces of music for distribution – well I haven’t done much about this. I have been practicing my guitar scales, but no actual recording
  3. Lose 10lbs in Lose Weight Exercise – No comment
  4. Write 10 posts – from total fail to movement. I have made a start, and a big start. I am noting ideas each day on 750 words and now have enough ideas to keep me going for a few months
  5. Create 10 imagesafter a reasonable start last month, the paint brushes have remained dry
  6. Identify 10 people for an influential network – ongoing and slowly being built
  7. Have 10 minutes Lose Weight Exercise per day – *cough* move on
  8. Increase web traffic by 10% – still tied to writing the posts above, but I am moving and have set myself some deadlines
  9. Scan RSS reader for 10 minutes per day – and I now have plenty of time to get more done. To see how I do it, you can read my guide to taming your RSS reader here
  10. Practice twitter in 10 minutes -  I have continued to cut down my twitter time

So, not great but progress.

Ten plus three

Yet again I have missed the deadline for my review of things I want to achieve in 2010. I’ll use the standard excuse that things have been fairly busy but I’ll also throw in that I have been doing a bit of re-evaluating. The concept of linking everything to the number 10 and multiples of 10 is a great idea to be reminded of what I want to do. However, once reminded I have then stuttered.

Of course one reason I maybe struggling is that the goals aren’t, or haven’t been, particularly SMART. This may have something to do with all the various options for what the mnemonic actually means. However, as I have gone through things I have decided to make everything a little SMARTER.

I have looked at what I wanted to achieve back here, and tried to develop some direct things that I can do and put into practice. I’ve also dropped, the projects list I had. It is still in the archive somewhere but it’ll soon disappear from the navbar. The projects and ideas I had there though, have been transferred to the list below. So, next month, I’ll be reviewing how the following has gone.

Now there are 10 things for me to get on with for the next month. Some of the things are daily, others are weekly and still others are longer term. Some will have sub-lists of things to do and others are pretty self evident.

This list is not exclusive. There are many other things I am and will continue to do, but these things highlight areas I want to explore and develop. I’ll explain more details as I continue, such as traffic stats and what sites am I actually talking about. But this list is primarily for me, to hold myself accountable for the rest of the year.
