The latest idea to go into this minstrel’s manual is ‘we’re not porn stars’. This isn’t a blatant SEO push, but anything helps. I had those words, a simple melody and an idea about how ‘life’ is distorted in popular media.
Distortions occur from filters in social photo apps to the false representation of sex, I can’t call it love, in porn (and there goes my SFW badge). With the ease at which porn is accessible online, the danger is that the reality is further removed from what is seen – it’s like an anti-Victorian values reflex.
How do we learn? By what we see or what we do? When we see something that is so distorted from what we do, there is an inherent danger. Body image and sexual performance issues are just the beginning.
I have my line, my melody and an idea. It’s all in the journal. How it goes will be down to how the sound develops. So many ideas fail to develop as full-blown songs.
So many relationships fail to develop into full-blown love… is that the fault of the media surrounding us, or am I just a hopeless failed romantic?… let’s add some strings.
