That’s my little, sacred space. It’s currently got an easter(ish) theme so needs a little tending.
It helps me mark the passing of time. Unlike a calendar, which marks time through appointments and dates. I can mark the moments of my life, the moments of the life of earth (and universe) and the moments of others.
Every day I stop here. It may be for a while. I try to stop and pray. I am grateful. I am thankful. I remember others, bringing them to mind, their health, their actions and their struggles.
It is placed where I pass it on my way in and out of my room. It is there to remind me.
Your sacred space doesn’t have to be an altar of any creed or colour. It could be a spot outside that you find peaceful, the beach, a field, a tree. A small park among the busy city. A path to walk along. It doesn’t matter where it is, as long as you find it and use it.
All you need is somewhere to exercise your spiritual muscles. Your place in the universe, the place of others and the collection of atoms and vacuum that make the whole thing up. The natural laws that keep things in motion. The unnatural laws that we don’t yet understand. A place to step back and be. You won’t always be at one with the universe, but you will always be part of it, your energy and your life-force. We need to exercise to exist.
